Hot on Heels
In our photo series ‘Hot on Heels’, we created an absurd and surreal world around a pair of women’s arms. Femininity is central in this photo series. Through the years women have been suppressed and this is still an issue. We wanted to challenge the viewer to stay open-minded. Things are not always what they seem.
This photo series now consists of twelve images. We continue expend this photo series. Once we have taken fifty photos, we want to publish this project in book form. We were allowed to exhibit part of this series in Barcelona (Spain) and Budapest (Hungary). Two examples to give an impression of our creative process for this photo series.
Four images of this photo series:
Tender Tabs – For this image we have created two blankets out of aluminium can tabs we found on the street. We cut and bent each tab slightly so that we could string them together. The arms of the model are covered with the blankets out of can tabs. The total process took around 5 hours.
Beloved Bark – For this image we collected bark pieces out of the park. We’ve puzzled the different pieces of bark around the arms of the model and then glued them on the arms. The total process took around 2 hours.
Black Boots – For this image we have painted the arms of the model black. We have tied a thread in every knot. So that it looks like the knots are really threaded into the skin. The total process took around 3 hours.
Fabulous Flowers – For this image the arms of the model are manually covered with different types of flowers. The total process took around 3 hours. As with every of our images we used minimal post-production.
